Managed Methods Adds REST Support to JaxView’s Agentless Deployment Option

Boulder, Colorado – July 10th 2008 Managed Methods Inc. (www.managedmethods.com ) the provider of cost effective agentless SOA management products, today announced support of REST style services to their patent pending Agentless deployment options. JaxView has several different deployment options including XML/Firewall, Agentless, Agent stub and ESB integration. Although JaxView has had support of REST services in other deployment options, the agentless option only supported SOAP standard based services, until now.

The low footprint and payload nature of REST allows architects to create more services that can become a bigger part of their infrastructure. This type of implementation simplifies the component and increases the scalability of the server component in a client-server architecture. REST also allows the messages to be self descriptive and the interactions between services to be state less. For the above reasons more architects are using REST architecture to build out their SOA.

Therefore, as REST services are put into production there will be requirements to gain visibility into these service type interactions. JaxView can provide that visibility.

JaxView governance solution for REST services can provide the following type of monitoring functionalities:

  • Visibility into both SSL and NON-SSL REST messages
  • Performance
  • Throughput
  • fault Management
  • SLA management
  • Metering
  • Client Usage
  • Client Access Monitoring
  • Message Auditing
  • Metric baselining and trend analysis.
  • Mutli Step transaction monitoring of business processes with REST services on the back end.

JaxView also has comprehensive reporting and alerting features for problem detection and resolution.

“Being able to monitor REST style services by passively sniffing on the network is critical, since building agents for these services is very difficult and needs to be built on a per service basis. This additional support in JaxView will allow our customers to gain visibility into their REST service without modification to any part of their environment.” said Managed Methods CTO Al Aghili.

JaxView is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X platforms. JaxView pricing starts at $1999 per cpu of the app server hosting the service or the site supporting the REST services. For more information please visit www.managedmethods.com
